Ginger


Ginger is a Powerful Antioxidant and it also strengthens the IMMUNE SYSTEM.

Ginger has potential for treating numerous ailments :-
📖 Common cough & cold
It has anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative properties for controlling the common cold, soar throat.
📖 Delays Ageing.
Its anti-oxidative properties are responsible for controlling the process of ageing.

The characteristic fragrance and flavor of ginger result from volatile oils that compose 1-3% of the weight of fresh ginger, primarily consisting of zingerone, shogaols, and gingerols as the major pungent compound.
Zingerone is produced from gingerols during drying, having lower pungency and a spicy-sweet aroma.

Shogaols have higher Antioxidant activity but is formed from gingerols during heating, storage or via acidity.

Common Indian recipes generally include boiling the grated ginger; eg in tea & curries or Finely diced ginger is pickled using lemon juice or vinegar. 
In both the cases heat or acidity helps in producing Shogaols from the gingerols present in ginger.
Shogoal which has higher antioxidant properties n anti-inflammatory properties makes it a preventive food.
